The DART Rail Adventure November 23, 2009

Here at Nessel Development, we’re big fans of the DART Rail. A short ride down the Red Line will lead you straight to some of the city’s hottest destinations!

DART Dallas

DART

Our first stop: Mockingbird Station.

Home to the Angelika Theatre, Trinity Hall, and tons of shopping and dining, it makes sense why this Dallas hotspot draws large crowds from all over DFW!

American Apparel is our number one haunt for fun retro wears. We love AA’s skinny ties, organic cotton tees, and those oh-so-80s leg warmers!

Also on our faves list is Urban Outfitters. The place carries a wide selection of canvas sneakers, budget dinnerware, and up-to-the-minute fashions. (Hint: Check out Urban’s sale rack for unbeatable deals!)

Angelika Theatre is the city’s premier indie-film house. Dallasites love good cinema, and the guys at Angelika know what’s up! Now playing: An Education, Antichrist, Precious, Ong Bak 2, The Men Who Stare at Goats, A Serious Man, and Gentlemen Broncos.

Before a fine flick, we like to grab a quick bite.

Vapiano is a fast-casual German chain that offers fabulous pasta dishes made-to-order! Each patron is handed a tab card upon entering the establishment (making separate-check dining a cinch), and the eatery boasts a diverse following, including students, townies, and young professionals.

Urban Taco is great for healthy dining on-the-fly. We heart the eatery’s Grilled Green Onions (topped with a tomato-heavy pico de gallo), and Ensalada Tropical (loaded with cherry tomatoes, grapefruit, papaya, pickled red onions, roasted pumpkin seeds, extra-tender palm hearts, and served with a passion fruit vinaigrette).

Movie-goers can even enjoy a fine brew before (or after) the show. Trinity Hall serves-up a large variety of beers, including Texas’ own Franconia Hefe on draught (brewed just north of us in McKinney). Live Irish music fills the hall certain days of the week, and the ever-changing clientele keeps the place fresh!

No doubt we’re big fans of Mockingbird Station, but we do realize there’s a lot more to Dallas than just shopping and dining.

Stay tuned as we explore the Big D on our next DART Rail adventure!

4 sites great for a laugh November 18, 2009

Here in the Nessel office we are constantly laughing. Having a little humor makes the day so much more enjoyable. Most of the time we actually just laugh at each other…we’re an office full of amateur comedians. But sometimes one of us will come across a website that we have to share with the whole crew. Here is a list of our recent favorites:

  1. Unnecessary Quotes. For all you grammar lovers, “people’s” use of unnecessary quotation marks leads to some quite funny signage.
  2. They Didn’t Just. Outrageously funny people, bad ideas, weird signs, and much more.
  3. People of Walmart. Enough said
  4. Doing it Wrong. You always hear that there’s more than 1 way to do something. But is there always more than one right way to do something?

Fall Festivities November 9, 2009

In addition to Halloween, there are a lot of other great things that happen in DFW for the fall season.
Nessel was happy to donate to the Robert E. Lee elementary Fall Festival on Saturday. Go Cougars!
This weekend was also the 2009 Mud Run in Fort Worth. If you’ve never competed or attended you should really check it out.

First off, if your friends pull you on their team at the last minute, make sure you educate yourself on exactly what you’re in for…i.e. it’s 8.2 miles!

Now I’m perfectly in shape and perfectly capable of doing an 8.2 mile course but the blisters on my feet are angry that my feet were not taped. But all said and done, it is the most fun I’ve had in a while. It’s really nice to be part of a team and see so many people encouraging each other to go further. For more info, check out the Mud Run Website.

And coming up this weekend is the White Rock, For the Love of the Lake event!
