Attention all Dallasites:
Stay away from your malls, highways but especially your fair grounds this weekend or prepare to be assaulted by a wave of burnt orange and crimson! Here in Dallas we know this to be called Texas/OU weekend, and there seems to be a massive turnout for the bitter rivalry this year. Today is food court Friday, for those of you not working for our corporate office it’s basically lunch at the famed NorthPark Mall, and we were amazed to see how many college coeds were there for a food court Friday of their own. The parking lot was impossible as we’re also preparing for the Susan G. Komen Race for The Cure, and the little food court just couldn’t handle all those people.
Being from Dallas and not having gone to either school means I have to be partial to the #3 Texas Longhorns, right? #20 OU is looking for an upset and I’ll be the first to say, it’s a longshot, but why ruin the fun! I get the feeling for a lot of these Invaders it’s not about the football, but about the trip. I’d be willing to bet out of tidal wave of color, only about 1/2 know any position other than the quarterback, let alone what special teams means. Still it’s not about that, it’s about the School Spirit, the Rivalry, and of course the trip to Dallas!
Since our city is so fair (no pun intended) I’ll say welcome to all you Invaders despite the tragedy that will become my mall trip, commute home, and pretty much any plans I had this weekend. Enjoy your stay, drink at the bars, see the sites, and good luck!!
